STF launches special edition of Suprema – Constitutional Studies Law Review

The special edition of Suprema – Constitutional Studies Law Review, published on April 8, 2025, is now available in digital version. The issue concludes the thematic Dossier “Structural litigation in Constitutional Jurisdiction: challenges, limitations, and breakthroughs”, featuring articles that reflect the scholarly effort to propose formulations which allow the transition from a complex state of constitutional non-conformity to a scenario of respect for human rights, particularly those of the most vulnerable.

In addition to the constitutional debate, and advancing the goal of meeting international indexing standards, this special edition features three international articles written by Kim Lane Scheppele (Laurance S. Rockefeller professor at Princeton University – New Jersey, USA); Rosalind Dixon (professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of New South Wales – Sydney, Australia) and Marcela Prieto Rudolphy (professor at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez – Santiago, Chile – and at the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law – Los Angeles, USA); and the unpublished work of Ramiro Castro Garcia (professor at the Universidad de la República Uruguay – Montevideo, Uruguay).

Interview

In contribution to the legal and academic dialogue promoted by the ten original articles published in this edition, the journal opens with an interview with Ailton Krenak, indigenous political activist, professor, philosopher, poet, storyteller, writer and immortal of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. The conversation, in addition to addressing with the interviewee's trajectory, covers very current topics, such as the achievement of the 1988 Constitution, the struggle to implement the rights of indigenous peoples, the spiritual meaning of a world with millions of refugees, the urgent integration of man with nature in the face of the climate emergency and concerns about war and the self-destruction of the planet.

International Standards

The special edition of Suprema reaffirms its commitment to the standards required for ensuring the quality of academic debate promoted by the journal. Among the practices adopted are: the evaluation of articles submitted by peers in a double-blind system; the national and international variety; the support of an the editorial board, composed of national and international experts; and the identification of articles using the DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

Futhermore, the editorial team has continued efforts to align with the evolving landscape of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. In line with the most reliable recommendations, the journal has adopted precautionary measures together with authors to prevent potential problems related to research integrity, the reliability and bias of AI tools, as well as originality and novelty of submissions – challenges that have emerged with this new technological reality.
