STF launches second issue of "Suprema - Revista de Estudos Constitucionais"

2021-12-29

At the plenary session this Friday (17th), at the end of the Judicial Year, the president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Justice Luiz Fux, launched the second issue of "Suprema - Revista de Estudos Constitucionais". The biannual scientific journal publishes unpublished articles, translations, reviews, and interviews.

The new issue brings together twelve articles with various themes, methodologies and approaches, a hallmark of the journal, including academic freedom of expression, and religious freedom, gender studies and art.

It also features an interview with Professor José Afonso da Silva, a constitutionalist who has been cited in several of the Court's decisions and rulings, in which he talks about his career, his passion for the arts, his intellectual writing process, the Constituent Assembly, democracy, the electoral and governmental system, and the current pandemic context.

The issue also features a review of the book "The Cycles of Constitutional Time", written by Professor Jack M. Balkin, from Yale University (USA) and published by Oxford University Press in 2020.

Dossier

There are also texts submitted to the thematic dossier "The role of institutions in tackling the covid-19 pandemic". According to Justice Luiz Fux, the dossier aims to encourage debate on the legacy of the pandemic's impacts on the management and governance of bodies and entities, as well as on their actions to enforce and guarantee rights and public policies.

Editorial Line

With a broad editorial line, "Suprema" admits submissions from both traditionally recognized branches of law and less conventional lines, with special emphasis on texts with an interdisciplinary approach, in order to promote greater diversity in the topics discussed.

The academic articles are selected through a double-blind evaluation, in compliance with the scientific standards defined by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes). Under this system, the texts are evaluated by at least two external reviewers, and the names of the authors and reviewers are kept confidential.

The Journal does not charge any fees for submitting work or accessing its digital content and is aimed at the entire academic community interested in the knowledge produced in the legal field, such as professors, students, researchers, jurists, magistrates, and other professionals interested in the area.

Papers must be submitted directly to Suprema's website, in compliance with the editorial instructions.
