Revista Suprema features interview with Professor Tom Ginsburg and unpublished articles
This Monday (19), the Federal Supreme Court (STF) launches another edition of Suprema - Revista de Estudos Constitucionais, the academic journal produced by the Court. The biannual publication features scientific articles, translations, reviews, and interviews on legal issues and can be accessed free of charge and digitally via the journal's official website. Its editorial line is broad, covering the most diverse legal fields, and it values interdisciplinary approaches in order to promote a diverse production of knowledge.
Rich content
The Chief Justice of the STF, Rosa Weber, pointed out that, in this issue, Suprema continues its tradition of providing its readers with rich content. The fourth issue features an interview with Tom Ginsburg, professor of International Law and Political Science at the University of Chicago, researcher of Comparative Law and author of several award-winning works, who explains his writing process and career. He also discusses issues such as the global democratic order and the creation of the Comparative Constitutions Project platform, which allows for the analysis and comparison of the constitutions of all the nation states that have existed since 1789.
The publication contains seven scientific articles, three from the continuous editorial flow and four from the thematic dossier. As part of the proposal for a diverse and authentic journal, there are two texts in foreign languages (English and French).
Thematic dossier
Finally, the issue features a new thematic dossier, "The Right to Have Rights", the aim of which is to encourage discussion about access to rights and justice, especially in the current social, political and economic scenario.
The Justice recalled that, due to the covid-19 pandemic, many groups have become even more vulnerable. "With this publication, we hope to make a significant contribution to the debate on the levels of protection and implementation of rights in the country, both within and outside the context of the pandemic," she said. The edition is also, in her view, an opportunity for dialogue on the current challenges and proposals for the future, "always guided by science and the parameters established nationally and internationally to respect and promote the fundamental rights of the human person".
Interaction
Launched in 2021, Suprema is a milestone in the Court's interaction with the academic and civil community. The journal's mission is to create a space for the exchange of knowledge of innovative value, with the publication of original and unpublished articles, translations, reviews and interviews on topics in the legal field, in Portuguese and other languages (English, Spanish, French, or Italian).
